Kalu’s works are traditional African driven. These bold pieces are made using a multitude of mediums, on a canvas or wooden panel.

His unique approach to etching, burning, grinding and poitilism captures a richly layered history embedded with personal, social, religious, and political meaning.

The use of African symbols, texture, lines, colors, and signs laid out on a painstakingly etched wooden panels, and canvas makes the pieces outstanding. The use of Uli and Nsibidi as ascribed by the nsukka school is eminent in every piece.
