“What is most important to me as an artist is to always create from my heart and to make others truly feel something when they view my work.  Art is healing in so many ways.  Whether it is instilling a sense of hope, reminding someone of their childhood or depicting a common scene but in a dreamlike way…if it triggers an emotion, I’ve succeeded.”

Aubrey Sanchez of Yucaipa, California, is a self-taught artist who has been exhibiting locally since 2012.  Much of her work includes mixed media paintings that are vibrant in color, texture and meaning.

Though she keeps ink and watercolor as a favorite combination, she is continually experimenting with various mediums such as liquid oils and acrylic sand to create a wide array of subject matter. At times she even engraves the composition onto wood panels prior to painting.

Several of her paintings over the years have incorporated words…poetry, lyrics, quotes…some credited to others but at times, words of her own.  This love of words has led to another passion of pursuing children’s book writing, illustrating and self-publishing, with the goal of completing her first book, “A Cat Named Fish,” in the coming year.

Aubrey has worked full time at Redlands Print and Design for over 25 years. She actively participates in both the Redlands Art Association and Yucaipa Valley Art Association, regularly joining exhibitions and local festivals.
