Alfred studied fine art in Hong Kong when he was in his 20s. Thereafter he studied with Kei King Chung a teacher at the Central Academy of Fine Art, Peking. In early 1990 he immigrated to the US with his family.
Since then, he has studied with American artists like Robert E. Wood and Milford Zornes and has sold watercolor paintings in galleries.
After painting in watercolor for few years, Alfred discovered that he wasn’t improving with watercolor, so he started to paint with oil in order to be a better artist. He then began learning from oil-painters like Shuqiao Zhou, Sunny Apinchapong, Mark Kerckhoff, John Cosby, Ken Auster and Mian Situ.
Alfred enjoys being in nature and painting in the fresh air under the sun . California is really the place for him. He finds his subjects in the urban as well rural areas. He is motivated by subjects that he likes. That’s when he feels he has a good painting. Subjects he likes give him good feelings and energy. He usually paints by himself or sometimes with a few friends.
Alfred believe everyone is unique. If artists goes with his/her feelings, his/her painting will touch viewers.
