Diane Williams of Cosmic HeARTS Creations is a self-taught “Pique Assiette Mosaic Artisan” which translates as “thief of plates.” Her inspired artwork incorporates broken ceramics, vintage China, porcelain, stained glass and tiles into one-of-a-kind designs. She upcycles imperfect and forgotten things into true mini-masterpieces – illuminating the sparkle of souls and spirits through light, color, texture, alchemy, and love guided by angelic beings and universal wisdom.

What started as a self-care healing past time during the Covid lockdown, quickly evolved into countless co-creations that took a life of their own. Diane cares for and shares her artwork with others by gifting unique subjects of interest to local nonprofit fundraisers and working with individuals with family heirlooms, estate pieces, and sentimental objects by commission.

Dianes’ lifelong passion for salvaging long-forgotten treasures played perfectly with her need to adventure around the Inland Valley of California to hunt for an inventory of broken, mismatched pottery, and porcelain gems in second-hand shops, antique stores, auctions, and estate sales. She soon amassed an impressive inventory from around the world. This remarkable collection of valuable materials combined with her love for puzzles, history, archeology—and all things divine—activated a new retirement lifestyle as a Pique Assiette Mosaic Artisan. Her home is a living art studio she affectionately calls “Casa de la Carpe Diem,” in Hemet, CA, where she ceaselessly channels, co-creates and carefully cuts every piece of the mosaic puzzle by hand.

Being “a thief of plates” and breaking things to reimagine them into a new art form requires patience and respect; she consciously pays homage to the original artisans – the item’s history of use over time and the opportunity for a renewed life as someone’s cherished focal point. This level of spiritual symbiosis is especially true for commissioned items using family heirlooms. The more she knows about the origin or owners, the easier it is for love and artistic form to manifest.

In 2023, Diane ventured into the local art world by debuting in the Hemet Art Association – and won 1st Place. The 2024 Art for Heaven’s Sake Show is her first public display.
