Art has always been in Earnie’s blood, especially at a young age. His parents enrolled him in an arts centric elementary school in Norwalk, CA and in High School would drive him to Pasadena every Saturday for Art Center Saturday High courses.
He attended art school studying fine art and illustration at California State University Long Beach and Art Center College of Design in Southern California.
Life’s journey took him on the scenic route and he chose a career in hospitality which has served him well while still consistently exercising his artistic passion in his spare time.
Throughout his artistic studies Earnie developed a passion for portraits and figure work based on the works of John Singer Sargent with the teachings of contemporaries like Sean Cheetham and Michael Hussar that helped refine his gestural impressionistic style.
Five years ago he transitioned his focus to plein air painting. He draws his inspiration from the local vistas and viewpoints in Southern California and produces his favorites works Plein Air along the coastlines, cityscapes, parks, missions and local historic landmarks.
He’s humbled that his work is hangs nationally in his collectors homes as well as locally in Studio 7 Laguna Beach, Chemers in Tustin, San Clemente Art Gallery and even the halls of UCI Medical buildings.
He participates in local art fairs, art walks and plein air competitions and is an ambassador for the plein air movement. He hosts demonstrations, classes and enjoys sharing his work with the general public that approach him while he paints on location.
Currently he still enjoys his career in the hospitality industry while balancing life by continuing to fuel his passion painting outdoors on a regular basis. He’s humbled that the art he creates quickly finds a home with collectors.
